on Sunday he ate 3
on Monday he ate 4 (7 cookies gone)
on Tuesday he ate 5 (12 cookies gone)
on Wednesday he ate 6 (18 cookies gone)
on Thursday there were only 6 cookies left so he couldn't continue with the process

Origins Of The Names Of The Months.
January: Was named after Janus who was the Roman god of doors. He was the God of beginnings, sunset and sunrise, he had one face looking forward and one backward.
February: In February the Romans celebrated the festival of forgiveness for sins. Februare is latin for Purify.
March: Was named after Mars, who was the Roman god of war.
April: Roman month Aprilis, came from the Latin word to open, as in opening buds and blossoms
May: Was named after Maia the mother of Mercury,a Roman Goddess.
June: was named after Juno, a chief Roman goddess.
July: Renamed for Julius Caesar in 44 BC, who was born this month.
August: Re-named in 8 BC for Augustus Caesar.
September: Septem is, Latin for 7 the seventh month in the Roman calendar.
October: Octo, Latin for 8 the eighth month in the Roman calendar.
November: Novem, Latin for 9.
December: Decem, Latin for 10.
